partial update doesnt work for this small sample code

You didn't post the code behind file, so I don't know what you're trying to do with the TimerMessage label. But assuming that you respond to the timer postback and assign some text to the TimerMessage label, it should work.

Also make sure to remove the spurious line breaks following the open tag < characters.

sorry, I thought that the interval was specified in seconds, but I'm confusing with the duration parameter of an Animation.

Could you post the codebehind file?
